At our state-of-the-art facility, patients find comfort in safe, compassionate care. Our world-class chef cooks chef-prepared 5-star meals to support adequate nutrition while we provide access to our home gym, so patients can focus on improving their mental and physical health. Everything in our treatment program is designed with the individual in mind, ensuring every aspect of alcohol and drug addiction is treated.
Why Patients Choose Black Horse Health
Our drug and alcohol rehab program provides personalized, evidence-based care to patients in the Houston area to help them heal from substance use disorder (SUD) while addressing the underlying mental health, trauma, and chronic pain concerns that often contribute to addiction.
Our multidisciplinary team treats SUD alongside co-occurring mental health conditions and chronic pain concerns, creating a more complete path toward healing and long-term sober living.
Patients begin treatment in a medically managed detox program with around-the-clock nursing care, physician oversight, and individualized withdrawal management designed to promote safety, comfort, and stabilization.
With just 16 beds and a high staff-to-patient ratio, we provide personalized attention, customized treatment planning, and the clinical support needed to address each patient’s unique recovery journey.
Our team utilizes proven therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), family therapy, and group therapy to help patients address the underlying factors contributing to substance use and mental health challenges.
In addition to traditional clinical care, patient treatment plans include holistic services such as movement therapy, art and expressive therapies, yoga, nutrition support, and wellness-focused programming to aid in addiction recovery.
Recovery does not end after discharge from inpatient rehab. Through alumni programming, family support services, aftercare planning, group therapy opportunities, and ongoing clinical connections, we help patients build a foundation for lasting success.
Conditions We Treat
at Our Rehab Center
We treat substance use disorders and underlying mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Our treatment team helps patients manage trauma linked with pain, process, drug, and alcohol addiction.

Substance Use Disorder
Addiction typically occurs when the use of one or more substances leads to chronic health issues or work, school, or home instability. We treat a broad spectrum of substance use disorders, including opioid, benzodiazepine, stimulant, and other mind-altering substance use.

CHRONIC PAIN
Complex pain can linger for several months or even years. Unlike the pain from a scraped knee or a stubbed toe, which goes away as the injury heals, chronic pain sticks around, sometimes without a clear cause. Patients can conquer chronic pain without the use of substances at our treatment facility. Our treatments target specific symptoms, offering relief and empowering patients to reclaim a fulfilling life.

TRAUMA
Trauma may arise from a single event, like an accident, or from ongoing stressful situations, such as abusive relationships. It may cause lingering feelings of fear, anxiety, and helplessness. Our team has specialists who can provide well-rounded trauma support to help in the healing process using trauma-focused therapy.

PROCESS ADDICTION
Individuals with process addictions will engage in a particular activity, such as gambling, shopping, gaming, or food-related behaviors, to the point where it negatively impacts their lives. Our team provides a tailored treatment plan, expert guidance, and a roadmap to a healthier, more balanced life.

Co-occurring Mental Health
Sometimes, feelings like sadness, anxiety, or confusion may become overwhelming and persistent, leading to self-medication with substances. Vice versa, substance abuse can lead to mental health concerns. Using an integrated approach to treatment, we look at both substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders for well-rounded healing.

Levels of Care Provided
Our drug rehab center is here to help patients from the very beginning, including detox to residential care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient rehab, helping them maintain long-term stability.
Detox Programs
Patients can expect to stay in our medical detox program for up to 5 days. However, their stay can be adjusted depending on medical history and the severity of their current condition. We provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to enhance withdrawal management.
Residential Treatment
In residential treatment, patients focus on treating the driving force behind their addiction. Our residential program lasts approximately 30 to 60 days, but can vary based on personal needs.
Available only to residential program graduates, our partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), and outpatient treatment serve as step-down levels of care.
Holistic and Evidence-Based Treatment Options
Holistic and evidence-based treatment options work together to address the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of addiction, supporting lasting recovery through personalized, comprehensive care.
CBT and DBT
Our team can help identify and change negative thought patterns that contribute to mental distress with our cognitive-behavioral approach to care. DBT helps patients with emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal relationships, particularly those with mood disorders.
ACT and EMDR
Our expert-led team offers both ACT and EMDR therapy to help process traumatic memories, reduce emotional distress, and foster resilience.
Family Therapy and Group Therapy
Family therapy helps rebuild trust, improve communication, and strengthen relationships by involving loved ones in the recovery process. Group therapy provides a supportive environment where individuals can share experiences, learn healthy coping skills, and gain encouragement from peers who understand the challenges they are facing.
SMART and 12-Step Recovery Offerings
12-Step support groups provide individuals with flexible, evidence-informed peer support options that encourage accountability, personal growth, and long-term sobriety. However, participation is not mandatory, and alternative programs, such as SMART Recovery, are available.
Trauma-Based Therapies
No matter if you’re seeking targeted trauma processing, cognitive restructuring, or nervous system regulation, our services are designed to meet your unique circumstances, from acute mental health stabilization to long-term emotional wellness.
Holistic Treatments
We offer unique holistic modalities to each patient, including movement therapy, yoga, art, expressive therapy, and nutrition and fitness assessments.
Signs You’re Ready for Our Recovery Program
Impaired relationships, work, or school performance can signal the need for treatment. If you or someone you care about is dealing with substance abuse, chronic pain, trauma, or co-occurring mental health and wellness issues, understand that treatment can be the change you need.
The compassionate team at Black Horse Health is committed to guiding you through your journey with trauma-focused, evidence-based treatment approaches. Our approach blends science-backed treatments with integrative methods to target your symptoms and foster complete wellness.
